Dental caries in people with developmental disability
Dental caries is more common in people with developmental disability than the general population. Refer people with developmental disability and suspected dental caries to a dental professional. For interim management of dental pain, refer to Drugs used to treat acute pain in dentistry.
For strategies to help people with developmental disability prepare for a dental appointment, see Planning oral and dental treatment in people with developmental disability.
Dental caries cannot be treated with analgesic and antibiotic therapy. For a detailed discussion of dental caries, including pathology and diagnosis, see Dental caries.
