Symptomatic treatment of influenza

Symptomatic treatment of patients with influenza includes:

• rest
• adequate hydration
• if required, oral analgesics (eg paracetamol); for dosages, see Oral drugs for mild, acute nociceptive pain in adults or Oral drugs for mild, acute nociceptive pain in children.

Avoid aspirin use in patients younger than 16 years because of the rare association with Reye syndrome.
