Pulmonary cryptococcosis in adults with HIV infection
For treatment and maintenance therapy (secondary prophylaxis) of Cryptococcus neoformans pulmonary disease in adults with HIV infection, see Pulmonary cryptococcosis.
In patients with newly diagnosed HIV, exclude other infections before starting antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection. For patients with HIV and pulmonary cryptococcosis but no other infection, start antiretroviral therapy within 2 weeks if the patient is clinically stable and cryptococcal meningitis has been excluded (see Initial antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection in adults).
