Duration of therapy for Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia

For patients with uncomplicated Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia, the total duration of therapy (intravenous + oral) requires individual assessment.

Patients with P. aeruginosa pneumonia who have high-severity pneumonia, necrotising pneumonia, ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) or bacteraemia may require up to 14 days of therapy (intravenous + oral).Bougle 2022

A longer duration of therapy is required for patients with P. aeruginosa pneumonia associated with lung abscess or complicated parapneumonic effusion or empyema complicating pneumonia.
