Benefits of weight loss on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk

Weight loss of as little as 5 to 10% may have considerable health benefits (eg improved lipid profile, BP and glycaemic management), though the resolution of some comorbidities (eg obstructive sleep apnoea) requires much greater weight loss. While weight loss has not been shown to affect mortality, hospitalisation or the incidence of ASCVD, a healthy diet and exercise do reduce ASCVD risk.
