Additional drug therapy to meet triglyceride targets
If the triglyceride target is not achieved with the maximum tolerated dose of a statin and dietary measures, consider adding fish oil (and, if necessary, fenofibrate) to reduce elevated triglyceride concentrations—see Drug therapy for moderately elevated triglycerides.
If triglycerides are significantly elevated at baseline (above 4 mmol/L), more intensive therapy is often required—see Drug therapy for severely elevated triglycerides.
