Colchicine for secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular events

Low-dose colchicine reduces the incidence of myocardial infarction, ischaemic stroke, and urgent coronary revascularisation in patients who have had recent myocardial infarction or who have chronic coronary artery disease. The effect on mortality is uncertain. Consider the addition of colchicine in these patients with the guidance of a specialist; see Colchicine for long-term management of acute coronary syndromes for more information Nidorf, 2020Tardif, 2019.
