Interpreting screening results in adults

For adults who meet the diagnostic thresholds for diabetes, see Type 2 diabetes in adults.

Adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes who have a normal blood glucose concentration are still at risk for cardiovascular disease and future development of type 2 diabetes. They should be advised on managing their cardiovascular disease risk (eg smoking cessation, dietary intake and physical activity plan, managing elevated blood pressure and modifying blood lipid levels)—see Cardiovascular disease risk modification.
