Overview of cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome
Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is characterised as chronic nausea and cyclical vomiting syndrome caused by chronic cannabis use. Patients often experience an improvement in their symptoms after a hot shower or bath.
The dose and duration of cannabis use required to cause cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome has not been determined and varies widely between individuals. Some patients may be prescribed cannabis initially for the management of nausea; however, their use may have escalated to levels where cannabis may be increasing nausea or causing cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.
