Renal adverse effects of NSAIDs

All NSAIDs can cause acute and chronic renal impairment, although the risk is thought to be lowest with celecoxib. Risk factors for NSAID-induced renal toxicity are described here.

When treating acute or chronic pain, avoid NSAIDs in patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) less than 30 mL/minute. When treating acute pain, also avoid NSAIDs in patients who have an eGFR less than 80 mL/min and are at risk of haemodynamic instability, or who have postoperative or posttraumatic haemodynamic instability.

See here for further information on NSAID use in patients with chronic kidney disease.
