Surgery for adhesive capsulitis
Adhesive capsulitis is usually a self-limiting condition and the patient can expect to return to normal function. In refractory cases, consider referral to a surgeon for discussion about arthroscopic glenohumeral joint capsular release, which may increase range of motion. It is unusual for someone to require surgery for adhesive capsulitis unless another pathology is present (eg diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, neurosurgery, thyroid disease).
