Investigations for medial tibial stress syndrome

Menendez, 2020

Investigations may include X-ray, radionuclide bone scan, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. Early tibial stress reaction may not be detected on X-ray but can usually be seen on MRI or radionuclide bone scan. A stress fracture may be detected on X-ray. In later stages, subtle cortical thickening or periosteal change may be seen.
