Physical activity for chronic nonspecific neck pain

Exercise is a central component in the management of chronic nonspecific neck pain, but the optimal program and mode of exercise has not been defined. Generally, a program that includes stretching, strengthening and proprioceptive retraining exercises is recommended. Proprioceptive retraining involves slow neck movements following a moving target. Also consider postural education, postural exercises and ergonomic advice. Encourage a general exercise program including walking, gym or water-based exercise.
