Systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) (formerly known as Still disease) is the most common rheumatological disease in childhood, and accounts for 10 to 20% of JIA casesLee, 2018. It is an autoinflammatory disorder that shares clinical and laboratory similarities with the rarer adult equivalent Adult-onset Still disease. The autoinflammatory response is driven by cytokines, macrophages and neutrophils, which is different to the antibody-mediated process in autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.
