Contraceptive applications (apps)
Contraceptive applications (apps) use data from calendar-based methods, sometimes combined with symptom-based methods, to predict ovulation. Evidence on the effectiveness of contraceptive apps is lacking. Although some apps have been found to have high efficacy in a clinical trial setting, typical use has not been studied and effectiveness is likely to be lower in the real-life setting. Contraceptive apps have a high discontinuation rate and only around 10% of users are able to adhere to the instructions perfectly.
