Observation and patient disposition after novel hallucinogenic drug poisoning
Admit patients with evidence of sympathomimetic or serotonergic toxidrome due to novel hallucinogenic drug poisoning. Patients with hyperthermia or complications may require management in an intensive care unit.
Observe other patients with novel hallucinogenic drug poisoning for at least 4 hours after ingestion and until their symptoms have resolved.
With supportive treatment, the vast majority of patients experiencing a hallucinogenic drug poisoning recover within 12 to 24 hours. Patients who have taken N-methoxybenzyl drugs can be symptomatic for days.
