Clinical presentation of toxalbumin poisoning from plants

Effects of toxalbumin poisoning from plants usually occur within hours or can be delayed. Toxalbumins cause severe and prolonged gastroenteritis with vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and dehydration. If untreated this results in hypovolaemic shock and multiorgan dysfunction.
