Toxic dose

The severity of toxicity caused by irreversible nonselective monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) depends on the dose ingested:

• 1 to 2 mg/kg—mild to moderate toxicity
• 2 to 4 mg/kg—severe toxicity
• more than 4 mg/kg—death.
