Airway and breathing

Intubate and ventilate patients with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) poisoning if their level of consciousness or muscle rigidity compromises the airway or breathing.

Neuromuscular paralysis and mechanical ventilation may be required for managing hyperthermia associated with serotonergic toxidrome (see Cooling for drug-associated hyperthermia).
