Observation and patient disposition after aspirin and other salicylate poisonings

Admit patients who have ingested more than 150 mg/kg of aspirin, or an equivalent dose of another salicylate (eg methyl salicylate ingestion of more than 100 mg/kg).

Discharge patients who have ingested less than 150 mg/kg of aspirin, or an equivalent dose of another salicylate (eg methyl salicylate ingestion of less than 100 mg/kg), if they remain asymptomatic for at least 6 hours after ingestion.
