Observation and patient disposition after acute lithium poisoning

Admit patients with acute lithium poisoning who require haemodialysis or management of acute neurotoxicity (eg coma, seizures).

Discharge patients with acute lithium poisoning who remain asymptomatic after 6 to 12 hours of observation, if their serial lithium concentrations are below 1.5 mmol/L and falling.
