Clinical presentation of bluebottle jellyfish stings

Effects of bluebottle jellyfish stings include:

  • immediate, intense local pain, lasting 1 or more hours
  • a linear red eruption at the sting site, lasting 1 or more days
  • systemic effects—nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, myalgia; respiratory distress occurs in less than 1% of cases.
