Medical fitness to return to diving
Medical fitness for diving must be regularly reviewed if diving-related problems have occurred, or if the diver develops new conditions that may impact on the safety of continued diving; see Contraindications to scuba diving. General practitioners should advise the diver that either situation requires a new medical assessment by a certified diving doctor.
Note: Divers who experience a diving-related problem should be reviewed by a diving doctor before returning to dive.
Dental work requires a 24-hour delay before return to diving but does not usually require a formal reassessment.
