Management of complications of alcohol use

Complications of alcohol dependence that may require management include:

cirrhosis and its complications such as varices and coagulopathy
hypertension
peptic ulcer disease Haber, 2021
malnutrition and malabsorption
thiamine deficiency; supplementation is required to limit development of peripheral neuropathy and risk of Wernicke encephalopathy
neuropsychiatric disorders such as acquired brain injury or alcohol-induced mood disorder.
