Dog hookworm infection
Eosinophilic enterocolitis caused by Ancylostoma caninum (dog hookworm) in humans can be treated with albendazole or mebendazole, or with endoscopic removal of the parasite. Use:
1albendazole orally, as a single dosealbendazolealbendazolealbendazole

child 6 months or older and 10 kg or more: 400 mg
child 6 months or older and less than 10 kg: 200 mg
OR

A. caninum occasionally causes cutaneous larva migrans, although this is classically and more commonly caused by Ancylostoma braziliense (cat and dog hookworm); both types respond to a single dose of oral ivermectin (see Cutaneous larva migrans).
