Monitoring patients taking HIV PrEP

People taking pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) should attend regular follow-up appointments, at least every 3 months, and be tested for:
- HIV
- sexually transmissible infections; see the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) STI Management Guidelines
- pregnancy (if applicable).
Assess kidney function 3 months after starting PrEP therapy, and then repeat at least every 6 months.
