Calcium channel blockers for long-term management of acute coronary syndromes
The use of calcium channel blockers should be reserved for patients with post–myocardial infarction angina (see Treatment to prevent angina) or elevated blood pressure not well controlled by other drugs (see Dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers to reduce blood pressure).
Avoid nondihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, verapamil) in patients with left ventricular failure or significant dysfunction (left ventricular ejection fraction 40% or less).
