Consumer and parent support groups

Consumer groups (eg specific diagnosis interest groups, disability advocacy and support groups1) can be major drivers in changing how services are delivered. They provide useful information for families and professionals, and are a source of support to families. Consumer groups also work with professionals and promote education, communication and research.

For links to organisations that provide support to children with specific developmental disability syndromes and disorders (and their families), see Syndromes and disorders associated with developmental disability.
1 An example of a multicultural advocacy group is City and Inner West Disability Advocacy, New South Wales [URL]. Another support group is The Association for Children with a Disability, Victoria [URL].Return
