Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion

A continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) pump may be continued during labour (regardless of delivery method) provided there is adequate 24-hour support and experience with CSII pumps. If adequate support and expertise are not available, the CSII pump should be suspended and intravenous insulin and glucose infusions started immediately (see Intravenous insulin infusion).
