Safety of other antihyperglycaemic drugs during pregnancy
Glibenclamide has limited passage across the placenta and is not teratogenic. However, use of sulfonylureas during pregnancy is not recommended because there is a risk of fetal macrosomia and neonatal hypoglycaemia.
At the time of writing, no data are available on the safety of other noninsulin antihyperglycaemic drugs during pregnancy. They should all be stopped, preferably before conception.
