Other meaningful activities
When people are struggling with pain, they often lose connection with recreational activities and prioritise purpose-driven activities instead (eg household chores, work). Engaging in meaningful recreational activities (eg sports, social clubs) may improve a person’s wellbeing and social connection, especially if they are unable to return to work. It may take time and patience to identify a meaningful activity that suits the person, especially if they have been disconnected for some time. Hobbies may be individual or include family and friends—examples include drawing, music, dancing, cooking or socialising with peers.
