Endoscopically confirmed gastrointestinal disease is usually managed with systemic corticosteroids and a steroid-sparing immunomodulatory drug, such as azathioprine or sulfasalazine. Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors are used overseas for intestinal features of Behçet syndromeYazici, 2021. Treatment with systemic corticosteroids should be started in consultation with a gastroenterologist, who can assess the extent and severity of disease.
