Cutaneous features of Behçet syndrome
Cutaneous lesions are common in Behçet syndrome. The most frequent include:
- acneiform lesions—see Acne
- pseudofolliculitis
- papulopustular lesions
- erythema nodosum—see Erythema nodosum
- pyoderma gangrenosum—see Pyoderma gangrenosum.
Although a pathergy reaction is characteristic of Behçet syndrome in some parts of the world, it is uncommon in the Australian population. A pathergy reaction is where simple trauma to the skin is associated with papule or pustule formation at the site of an injury within 48 hours.
