Contraception in individuals with migraine without aura
Use of combined hormonal contraception is generally safe (UKMEC 2) in individuals with migraine without aura, although evidence is insufficient to rule out a small increase in stroke risk. If users of combined hormonal contraception develop migraine without aura for the first time, ongoing use requires expert clinical judgment or referral (UKMEC 3).
Progestogen-only methods of contraception are safe to use (UKMEC 2) for individuals with a current or past history of migraine without aura.
