Serum sickness

Serum sickness is a delayed hypersensitivity reaction occurring 4 to 14 days after administration of antivenom. It is characterised by fever, rash, arthralgia, myalgia and nonspecific systemic features. Warn all patients who have received antivenom about potential serum sickness and provide them with a letter for their general practitioner.

For moderate to severe cases of serum sickness, use:
