Key investigations

The key investigations for Amanita phalloides poisoning detect acute kidney and liver injuries, and determine prognosis. It is important to evaluate the trend in results. Perform the following blood tests at least twice daily initially:

  • serum electrolyte, urea and creatinine concentrations—early changes may be caused by dehydration
  • blood gas analysis
  • blood lactate concentration
  • liver biochemistry, particularly serum ALT concentration
  • INR.
