Observation and patient disposition after amisulpride poisoning
Admit patients who have ingested 4 g or more of amisulpride, or have evidence of QT-interval prolongation on ECG, for at least 16 hours of continuous ECG monitoring and serial 12-lead ECGs. Discharge them when they are asymptomatic and the QT interval has normalised.
Observe patients who have ingested less than 4 g of amisulpride for at least 16 hours and assess serial 12-lead ECGs. Discharge patients if they remain asymptomatic and the ECG is normal (in particular, there is no QT-interval prolongation).
Sedative drugs can continue to cause significant cognitive impairment for several days following exposure. Advise patients not to drive or operate machinery for at least 3 days after discharge.
