Clinical presentation
Bupropion poisoning is characterised by severe agitation and aggression, and a significant risk of seizures, which can be delayed up to 24 hours after ingestion.
Effects of bupropion poisoning include:
- gastrointestinal effects—nausea, vomiting
- central nervous system (CNS) effects—agitation, aggression, seizures, hallucinations, tremor
- cardiovascular effects
- hypertension and sinus tachycardia (common)
- hypotension, QRS widening and arrhythmias after ingestions of more than 9 g of bupropion.
