Decontamination
Glyphosate is a liquid preparation, so gastrointestinal decontamination with activated charcoal is only effective if given early.
Offer activated charcoal to alert and cooperative patients who are able to protect their airway and present within 1 hour after the estimated ingestion time. Activated charcoal may be given later than 1 hour after large ingestions; however, the liquid preparations with surfactants are most likely to be absorbed within this time.
If the patient is intubated, activated charcoal can be given any time after ingestion via a nasogastric or orogastric tube—confirm correct placement of the nasogastric or orogastric tube beforehand.
