Observation and patient disposition after major box jellyfish stings
Admit patients with severe envenoming from major box jellyfish stings to a critical care unit. Discharge patients once they are asymptomatic.
Advise patients that they may develop a papular urticarial rash over the sting site in 7 to 14 days.
Advise patients treated with antivenom that serum sickness can occur about 4 to 14 days after administration of the antivenom and to seek medical advice if this occurs. For more information on serum sickness, see Serum sickness.
