Gastrointestinal taeniasis
To treat gastrointestinal taeniasis caused by pork tapeworm or beef tapeworm, use:
1praziquantel (adult and child) 10 mg/kg orally, as a single dose praziquantelpraziquantelpraziquantel
OR
2niclosamide 2 g (child: 50 mg/kg up to 2 g) orally, as a single dose1. praziquantelniclosamideniclosamide
When praziquantel is used to treat pork tapeworm there is a risk of seizures from occult neurocysticercosis (see below); however, this is uncommon.
