Mycobacterium tuberculosis prophylaxis in immunocompromised adults without HIV infection
Consider screening immunocompromised patients for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. If latent tuberculosis is identified, treatment (antimicrobial prophylaxis) is indicated to reduce the incidence of progression to active disease. Treatment of latent tuberculosis in patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy requires expert advice. See also Additional considerations for latent tuberculosis in patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy. For treatment regimens, see Treatment of latent tuberculosis.
