Key investigations

There are no specific investigations for GHB poisoning. It is reasonable to check the patient’s blood glucose concentration and, if they are intubated, to perform a blood gas analysis to detect acidosis.

If co-ingestion of GHB with other toxins is suspected, investigations relevant to the suspected toxins may be appropriate.
