Drug treatments for concurrent high-altitude cerebral oedema (HACE) and high-altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE)

For people with concurrent high-altitude cerebral oedema and high-altitude pulmonary oedema, dexamethasone should be added to a pulmonary vasodilator (eg nifedipine, or a PDE5 inhibitor if nifedipine is either unsuitable or unavailable).

No role is established for beta-agonists, diuretics or acetazolamide in treating high-altitude pulmonary oedema.
