Gabapentinoids for vasomotor symptoms of menopause

If hot flushes are worse at night or accompanied by poor sleep or neuropathic pain, consider a gabapentinoid. Suitable regimens include:

1 gabapentin 100 to 300 mg orally, daily at night, increasing if needed every 4 days from once daily to 3 times daily menopause, vasomotor symptoms gabapentin    

OR

1 pregabalin 75 mg orally, twice daily. menopause, vasomotor symptoms pregabalin    

Gabapentinoids may also prevent migraine but, unlike clonidine, they are not approved by the TGA for this indication.
