Toxic dose
An adult who ingests more than 2 g of immediate-release quetiapine is at increased risk of toxicity, in particular coma. The toxic dose for modified-release quetiapine has not been defined.
Children and other people who are treatment-naive to quetiapine can experience more marked toxicity due to poisoning. Drug-naive children who have ingested more than 25 mg of quetiapine or who have symptoms following ingestion of any amount need to be observed in hospital—see Potential toxic doses of some antipsychotic drugs in drug-naive children for potential toxic doses of some antipsychotic drugs in drug-naive children.
